The Ultimate Truth of the Universe

Quantum science holds that our universe began with a big bang about 4 billion years ago, and no scientist can yet authoritatively say what existed before the “big bang”. But it is credible speculation that the birth of the universe is part of a cycle of creation and destruction, where an infinitely contracting singularity exploded to form the universe, expanded for billions of years, and then began to contract again, eventually returning to an infinitely contracting singularity. Speculation also suggests that our universe may not be the only universe created by the big bang, or that there may be other big bangs, so we may actually live in a “multiverse”.

The first thing created by the big bang was the “quantum vacuum”, a “potential field” that still exists today, as a force that exists and acts on everything in the universe (including ourselves). The word “vacuum” is misleading, it is not empty like a vacuum flask; instead, it is filled with the infinite potential of everything that has ever been, is, and will be. It is a pure and unexcited energy field, and is called a “vacuum” only because it has no discernible properties or characteristics.

In our quantum universe, properties and characteristics are the result of energy excitation, and “things” with properties or characteristics only appear when the “zero-point” field of the vacuum is excited. The quantum vacuum can therefore be viewed as a still sea, and everything that exists, including ourselves, is a “wave” rising from this sea. In fact, the word “exist” means “to stand out,” just as a “wave” stands out from the sea. Everything that exists, including you, me, and the company, is the result of the excitation of kinetic energy patterns in the quantum vacuum.

The quantum vacuum contains the potential for everything that exists now and will exist in the future, so it contains the potential for you and me to exist. In fact, we have existed in the vacuum as a potential since the moment of the Big Bang. In this way, each of us has experienced the long history of the universe since its creation, so in fact we are all very old, now 4 billion years old. Our existence began with a perturbation that broke the stillness of the vacuum, resulting in the Higgs field and the Higgs boson, which in turn led to the formation of matter (its mass). Matter then formed first into elementary particles, which in turn gave rise to hot gases, stars, planets, and life on Earth. As the Tao Te Ching says, “Tao begets one, one begets two, two begets three, and three begets all things.” We are all things.

量子科学认为,我们的宇宙始于大约40亿年前的一次大爆炸,尚无科学家能够权威地说出“大爆炸”前存在的事物。但根据可靠推测,宇宙的诞生属于创造与毁灭循环的一部分,无限收缩的奇点爆炸形成宇宙,膨胀数十亿年后再次开始收缩,最终重归于无限收缩状态的奇点。推测也表明,我们的宇宙也许不是大爆炸产生的唯一宇宙,或者可能有其他大爆炸,因此我们可能实际上生活在一个“多元宇宙”中。
